Jenovah's Witnesses

Two Jehovah’s Witnesses appeared at the door earlier this evening. A youngish man with an African background, but with a distinctly non-African French accent, and an older Belgian woman of 60. I had a few minutes to spare, so we talked. He did all the talking, she stood and smiled. Decent people, whose sincerity I don’t doubt for an instant. Ultimately my quarrel, if quarrel there was, was with their form of Protestantism. As if the ultimate purpose of Christianity is evangelization. And with their approach to the Bible, the written word as absolute truth, with no Church to prism it through. It was the Protestantism I turned my back on at age 17. I tried to give them my version of Christianity, a little less fluent, less straightforward, but with the edges rounded by 30 years more practice. What did hurt: the logical follow-on to such a conversation is: come to my place and see. I do not have such a place. We operate in Slavonic only and spiritual temperature is pretty low.
And O yes, I had better check up what is so heretical about Jenovah’s Witnesses. I can never remember.
