Serious journalism on the Russian Orthodox Church, showing some degree of objectivity, is rare outside Russia today.
An article by Nadieszda Kizenko, which appeared a few days ago in the USA, and which can be found on http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/139936/nadieszda-kizenko/russias-orthodox-awakening is, while not as detailed as I would like, is for my money worth reading. It feels generally on the right wavelength.
